- Registration of all CYCLES (individual or group) which are intended to be used on public roads, are done at all the Police Stations around Mauritius. 1. The Cyclo-Tourists should compulsorily use protective helmets during their tripsRoad Traffic Regulations
- The Registration process is done on payment of Rs 5/= (Five Rupees) to register the CYCLE.
- Upon registration of the CYCLE, a registration plate and a certificate is given.
- The Registration plate shall be affixed to the CYCLE so that the numbers thereon shall be easily distinguishable at all times.
- If the registration plate is lost, destroyed or defaced, or if the numbers thereon cease to be distinguishable, the CYCLE has to be registered anew.
- Every CYCLE shall be fitted with a HORN or BELL affixed thereto and shall be at all times be in good working order.
- A lamp, visible from a reasonable distance, in the direction in which the CYCLE is proceeding, shall be lighted and kept alight so as to show the movement and position of the CYCLE.
- A red light or a red reflex reflector clearly visible from the rear thereof.
- A CYCLE shall be ride as near the left edge of the road.Code of Conduct
2. The Cyclo-Tourists should adopt proper riding behaviour on the roads
3. The Cyclo-Tourists should stay focus during rides
4. The Cyclo-Tourists should stay away from heavier vehicles
5. The Cyclo-Tourists should stay in the sight of other vehicles during riding.
6. The Cyclo-Tourists should ride to be seen, wear bright colors and use reflective tape - the more the better.
7. The Cyclo-Tourists should adjust its cycle to be at ease for keeping balance and stretching legs for a stronger push when needed.
8. The Cyclo-Tourists should ensure roadworthiness before taking any trip i.e brakes/tyres/pedals are in order.
9. The Cyclo-Tourists should ensure proper lighting when riding at night.
